Reminder Authors: Have you set up your February Promotion yet? Let us know in the comments!

January 18, 2017 5:05 pm / 4 Comments on Reminder Authors: Have you set up your February Promotion yet? Let us know in the comments!

I was sitting around staring at my Author’s Social Media Planner Book – really just staring at the outside of the planner wishing I’d decorated in a more fashionable way.

I clicked on the Internet and found a lot of Valentine’s Day reminders were starting to pop off.

I decided right then and there to jump over to Canva.com and put together a quick .png. I borrowed a book Lover day ad, copied it and then posted it in my Hootsuite and Buffer, plus scheduled it out in my Facebook page.

It’s not much, but enough to draw attention for lovers of romance.

This is the status message attached:

Fall in love over &over again for Valentine’s Day reading page turning Suspense Romance http://www.sylviahubbard.com/fictionbooks #booklover

In Hootsuite that schedules to my Facebook Profile, Twitter, Go.ogle Plus for Motown Writers (for the SEO) and Motown Writers Group, I schedule my post every three days from here on out starting on the 18th of January.

For Buffer, I just did one schedule Que’d post and then I jumped over to Facebook Page, which also posts to my Twitter to post every 5 days starting on the 20th

These will all run until February the 14th.

I might do a giveaway. Still thinking about it.

What are you doing for your February Campaign? Please share in the comments with your website to link to it.

Missing Contact Information Is Killing Your Book Sales

January 16, 2017 11:07 am / 5 Comments on Missing Contact Information Is Killing Your Book Sales

Book Marketing, Promotion & Publicity, Uncategorized

Guest Post by Joan Stewart of PublicityHound.com

Contact information is probably not the first thing that comes to mind when you think about book sales. But what if someone needs 50 copies of your book but wants to call you to negotiate a bulk price? Will he find your phone number at your website within 10 seconds? Or will you make him search for it until he becomes so frustrated that he leaves?

Video Will Be Huge in 2017…Get Ready!

January 15, 2017 11:02 am / Leave a comment

  by Frances Caballo

Video is incredibly popular. Experts estimate that in 2017 and beyond, video will make up 69% of consumer internet traffic.

Back in 2015, consumers spent an average of five-and-a-half hours a day watching video content. That number continues to rise. On Facebook alone, some 500 million users view 8 billion videos on a daily basis.

Video, because people watch so much of it, is useful in book marketing. At the same time, it’s important to keep your videos to approximately 90 seconds. Five percent of viewers will stop watching a video after 1 minute and 60% by 2 minutes.

How Writers Can Improve Their SEO without Pricey ExpertsGoogle and Facebook are similar in one way; they frequently tweak their algorithms. It’s only Google that changes its algorithm for SEO.

And while Facebook announces its algorithm revisions without assigning names to the changed algorithms, Google does assign monikers to its changes

Technology makes it easier than ever to shout out your message to the world. But these tools are available to everyone—and everyone’s using them. How can you be heard above the noise?

Publicity helps you rise above the noise. When you connect with influencers and let them spread your message, they reach more people than you can alone. With the right email—to the right person—you can get booked as a guest or for an interview.

Over my years working in the media, I’ve seen many do this wrong. Below are 13 tips to help you avoid some of their mistakes…

Why Should I Have a Website

January 11, 2017 11:38 pm / Leave a comment

The biggest change in business over the last fifteen years is our ability (in most countries) to create and launch our own business without anyone’s permission. We have also been granted (via the Internet) the tools to reach our prospective buyers without anyone else’s help. If you WANT to do more business, the first step (after having something to offer others) is to create a home base on the web.

Is it Possible to Publish a Book For Free?

January 8, 2017 10:44 am / 2 Comments on  Is it Possible to Publish a Book For Free?

By Colin Dunbar

Short answer: Yes and No.Can you publish a book for free?

Duh, that’s not an answer.

I agree, so…

In this article we’ll look at where you can self publish your book, and what goes into self publishing. Then we’ll see if you can really publish a book for free.

If you decide to go the route of traditional publishing, there are zero costs upfront. Thus, if you go this route you can actually publish a book for free.

But… (always a but)

You should realize that it’s very difficult to land a traditional publishing contract, as an unknown author. And you will still need to invest the time (or even possible costs) of establishing your author platform
