6 Steps for Creating a Social Media Campaign that Drives Your Book Launch
/

There’s something you need to understand right up front: your social media book launch campaign is not your broader marketing or social media strategy.
Instead, and much like your book launch plan, your social media campaign and tactical plan are derived from these big-picture strategies. This is a one-off, short-term plan that focuses on completing specific activities within a specified timeframe in order to achieve short-term goals.
Before you begin, you should have a clear idea of who you’re targeting, what your goals are, and the message you want to convey during your book launch. If you haven’t identified these things yet, you should do so now as they will be vital to the success of your book launch. When you have that information at hand, start planning the what, why, and how of your social media book launch campaign

Note: I don’t know if this is available for wordpress.com yet but I’m hopeful
Between building websites for authors and running a new blog I try to stay on top of useful WP plugins. Here’s one which hasn’t gotten a lot of attention yet.
At the beginning of last month Amazon released its official affiliate plugin

Hints from the Pros: Book Tour Tips #how2ebook

Greetings from the road! I’m out on book tour promoting Girl in Disguise, skipping around from the very north (Minnesota) to the very south (Alabama) of the country, filling my days and evenings with readings, signings, panels, book clubs and keynotes. Other than forgetting to pack my makeup remover, things are going pretty well so far.
Like most of publishing, book tours aren’t what they used to be. Which doesn’t mean they’re worse – or better – just different. From an economic standpoint, spending money on plane tickets, hotel rooms and car rentals for absolutely no guaranteed return on investment is, well, not entirely sense-making. Which is why book tours are the exception these days and not the rule. (“We’ll be leveraging your social media presence” is an oft-heard substitute, and perhaps I’ll write a different post about that.)

Are you using the kdp print service? What’s your experience?

Historically speaking Amazon has had two distribution platforms, Createspace (for POD paper books) and Kindle (for ebooks), but starting last summer Amazon has been beta-testing a combined platform called KDP Print.
The closed beta was limited to only KDP users who had been invited, but today Amazon told KDP users that the beta test is now open to all

Today’s guest post is by author Robert Kroese (@robkroese). Read his previous post on how authors can best use Amazon KDP ads.
As most self-publishing authors know, Amazon offers marketing incentives to authors who sell their ebooks exclusively through Kindle, through a program called KDP Select. KDP Select requires that authors sell their ebook (but not print book) exclusively through Amazon for at least 90 days. The agreement automatically renews unless you decline to enroll again; however, you can always go back and re-enroll at any time.

How Indie Authors Can Connect With Influencers on Twitter #h2e
How Indie Authors Can Connect With Influencers on Twitter
/ 4 days ago
Just like with LinkedIn and Facebook, when indie authors connect with the “right” people, or key influencers, on Twitter, it makes a huge difference. Especially when they retweet your Tweets. But on Twitter, this can be an even more focused effort and sometimes the connection is even easier than on the other platforms. Why? Because Twitter is a direct link. If you like a Tweet, you can instantly like it and the person will know. If you reshare a Tweet, they’ll know it, too and it opens the door to a great connection for author promotion and book marketing. As you’re exposed to their followers, the amount of your followers will begin to climb, along with your network for book promotion
