This is the Reason Content Marketing for Writers Matters #h2e

Content marketing.|

It’s not a term most writers are familiar with, likely because anything with the term ‘marketing’ in it makes us want to run away and cower in the safety of our tried and trusty pens and pads. Besides, we are writers. We want to create art. Why do we need to do any…

Reminder Authors: Have you set up your February Promotion yet? Let us know in the comments!

I was sitting around staring at my Author’s Social Media Planner Book – really just staring at the outside of the planner wishing I’d decorated in a more fashionable way.

I clicked on the Internet and found a lot of Valentine’s Day reminders were starting to pop off.

I decided right then and there to jump over to Canva.com and put together a quick .png. I borrowed a book Lover day ad, copied it and then posted it in my Hootsuite and Buffer, plus scheduled it out in my Facebook page.

It’s not much, but enough to draw attention for lovers of romance.

This is the status message attached:

In Hootsuite that schedules to my Facebook Profile, Twitter, Go.ogle Plus for Motown Writers (for the SEO) and Motown Writers Group, I schedule my post every three days from here on out starting on the 18th of January.

For Buffer, I just did one schedule Que’d post and then I jumped over to Facebook Page, which also posts to my Twitter to post every 5 days starting on the 20th

These will all run until February the 14th.

I might do a giveaway. Still thinking about it.

Video Will Be Huge in 2017…Get Ready!

Video is incredibly popular. Experts estimate that in 2017 and beyond, video will make up 69% of consumer internet traffic.

Back in 2015, consumers spent an average of five-and-a-half hours a day watching video content. That number continues to rise. On Facebook alone, some 500 million users view 8 billion videos on a daily basis.

Video, because people watch so much of it, is useful in book marketing. At the same time, it’s important to keep your videos to approximately 90 seconds. Five percent of viewers will stop watching a video after 1 minute and 60% by 2 minutes.

How to Set Up a Facebook Author Page for Beginners

by Big Al

facebook logoA while back, I wrote an article here on IU which laid out the basics of Twitter. This post does the same for Facebook with an emphasis on what an author would need to setup an “author page” for their marketing and promotional efforts.

I’m going to assume you’re able to find your way to Facebook (www.facebook.com) and sign up for an account. As I did with Twitter, my contrarian nature means I didn’t do any of the things Facebook wanted me to when setting up the demonstration account I’ll be showing here. Really you should consider doing all of what they suggest. If you didn’t, you’ll get a page that is almost a blank slate with the top looking a lot like this. Read more of this post
